Shiatsu Bodywork

Shiatsu is a hands-on manual therapy. A treatment could include joint movement, compression on muscles, stretches, abdominal work, and a variety of manual techniques to free the meridian pathways*.

*The same as those of acupuncture.

These methods help the body rebalance itself. The receiver is asked to interact by actively breathing and giving any feedback needed to allow their nervous system to release tension patterns. The depth of pressure is tailored to the receiver’s specific needs. After a session, most people feel relaxed. Some say they have “returned home”.

Shiatsu is a Japanese mat bodywork therapy. The receiver is clothed in loose, full-length attire, allowing the practitioner to freely move the body into stretches and joint opening movements within the flow of a session. The practitioner can easily remain relaxed while safely applying pressure to all areas of the body. Hand, finger, elbow, knee and foot pressure are used to help release tension & return the body/mind to its natural state.
