Shiatsu Bodywork

Shiatsu is a Japanese mat bodywork therapy. The receiver wears their own loose-fitting full-length outfit & socks, allowing the body & mind to relax deeply. An abdominal assessment and the meridian pathways of acupuncture are used to find the most effective treatment for each person.

A treatment might include gentle or firm pressure, joint movement, compression on muscles, stretches, abdominal work, &/or a variety of manual techniques to free the meridian pathways & help the body rebalance itself.

The receiver is asked to interact with breathing & any feedback needed to allow their nervous system to release tension patterns. The depth of pressure is tailored to the receiver’s specific needs.

People feel balanced after a session. Some report that they have “returned home”.

Welcome to my cozy treatment room in Missoula, Montana!

It is recommended to choose 90-minutes for your first session.

More experienced receivers will enjoy a 2-hour session. The 60-minute session is helpful for maintenance & to support a healing process.

Shiatsu is appropriate for all stages of life & health. It is safe for all stages of pregnancy & as postpartum care.

For someone in a healing crisis sessions can be one week apart.

If a receiver is in a long process a treatment at three-week intervals will add support & balance.

Those who are returning to a bodywork routine may consider monthly sessions for a season, then every 5 to 6 weeks for maintenance.

Some enjoy a 2-hour session every 2 months to stay balanced in seasonal shifts.
